Dedication to Women of Color
I like to thank Styleblazer for writing an article on this blog.
"Tumblr Love: Fros And Curls In Art History" by Styleblazer:
Hair is an especially touchy subject for women–even those women without any hair at all–because conventional beauty standards tend to dictate over and over again that looking like Hedi Klum is the ideal. While Klum is certainly beautiful, her beauty is not the only type to exist. But the standards persist nonetheless and, unfortunately, women with textured hair–and women of color specifically–tend to not have as much hair inspiration.
After reading Styleblazer’s article on Fros and Curls in Art History, I realized this blog was truly missing something important, a place dedicated to women of color with fros and curls. It’s truly a shame that I haven’t thought of it sooner.
The new Women of Color page on Afro-textured Art will feature women, just wearing their natural hair. Unfortunately, at the moment there isn’t many pictures on the new Women of Color page but, over time that would soon be amended. Get the word out, REBLOG!
